With my new job description, it is a part of my routine to make memoranda, reports, and other office works. I know I am just human, therefore I am bound to commit errors, and when I do, I would accept it and learn from it. (that is my normal reaction IF I know I have done errors--- learn from it.) Modesty aside, I am comfortable with English as language since college days, or even since high school days. I love to write my heart out and when I do, English would be my medium. I remember Prof. E.Gayak, of that University where i studied, she commended my essay examination with "congratulations, you write substantially" and gave me a score of 48/50. With that note on my paper, I knew she understood my answer very well, otherwise she would have written corrections to it.
Just this afternoon, BOSS asked me to prepare a letter. I have done what she asked, and of course she was able to read it before signing on her name as the sender. With her signature on her name, it is understood that she have read the letter and since there was no correction, she affixed her signature.
Until, one colleague told me SOMEONE corrected my letter.. the letter goes something like this.....
*we would like to request you to lend us..."
ACCORDING TO THAT someone... the right word would be BORROW... and I said WHAT????
if I will follow the 'correction' the letter will look like this...
*we would like to request you to borrow us,....* and I just laughed...
It is not bad to correct or to be corrected but my plea is, before you react and make yourself "all-knowing" why don't you review first your suggestion or correction before you spread the disease. LOL I have yet to chat with that someone. hehe the same person asked me once.."where did you bought??"
May I then ask you dear reader, should I be corrected???
